⛳️ Can Golfing Kill You?
Death, Sequels, & South Korea
It’s Sunday. The day of the lord. The day of rest.
My “day of rest” usually looks like this:
18 holes
A few (many) beers
Convincing myself my clubs are the problem
I can’t be the only one.
Today we’ll talk about dying on the golf course… the 2nd greatest golf movie of all time… and the one country taking over golf.

Life (and golf) is all about perspective.
When I’m golfing, I worry about my slice. Especially when near roads or parked cars.
One thing I NEVER worry about: dying.
Really puts things in perspective. Yes, my putting could use some work. But, I’m 99.999999999999% sure that I will survive the round.
Imagine this: You’re on the 6th hole. Probably in the rough. Bang, bang, bang. Gunshots. Your friends (mid beer) are shooting at the bushes.
In reality, “you” is Donald Trump. And “your friends” are the secret service. And you OWN the golf course.
Stinger of the Day
Why Don’t You Go Home? That’s Your Home!
Happy Gilmore is one of the greatest golf movies of all time. I would argue it’s #2 behind Caddy Shack.
And after 28 years, it’s time for Happy Gilmore 2.
Usually sequels suck. And now that grandma’s house is paid off, Happy might be a little complacent. A little lazy. But, who knows?
Side note: Happy might be a better putter than I am right now. Like I said, my putting is in SHAMBLES. Cannot stress this enough.
Here’s the trailer:
Golf Powerhouse…South Korea?

When you think about golf, maybe your shitty local course comes to mind. With the angry starter and no grass on the 8th hole. Maybe you think of Augusta. Maybe Scotland.
But what about South Korea?
South Korea’s economy is growing fast. They have the 12th largest one in the world. And they’re spending a LOT of $ on golf.

South Korea LOVES golf. Like a lot.
Not only are South Koreans playing more and more golf, native companies are investing in the sport:
Genesis sponsors 2 tour events
CJ Group sponsors an event
Uneekor growing fast
Helped launch Tiger Woods’ TGL League
Volvik growing and expanding more into the US
Taylormade relocated production of some of its most popular and tour models just south of Seoul.
Forget Scottsdale for a golf trip. The guys are going to South Korea.
Well, that’s it for today. Time to go work on my putting. Winter is coming. Need to dial it in before there’s a foot of snow on the ground.
See you on Wednesday 🤝
