⛳️ Caterpillar
Happy Monday. Marcus Armitage's round at the Nedbank Golf Challenge was halted by a caterpillar wandering in front of his bunker ball, prompting referee Mats Lanner to brush it away while commentators debated whether it qualified as a loose impediment. One broadcaster noted "it actually looks like Tony Johnstone trying to climb stairs" while another asked if the insect considered "going downhill" out of the splash mark. On-course reporter Wayne Riley later checked back to ensure nobody stepped on "the newest Sun City mascot." Armitage made par despite the once-in-a-lifetime distraction. ⬇️

📰 GOLF STORIES
⛳️ Putting out of the bunker
Haotong Li putted his golf ball out of a bunker during Friday's Nedbank Golf Challenge second round, ditching his sand wedge for the flatstick and nearly holing it. The four-time DP World Tour winner and 2025 Open Championship T-4 finisher proved you might be doing bunker shots ALL wrong, though the low lip helped make it possible. "Well you don't see this every day," the tour tweeted. While most situations still call for a wedge, whacking one with your putter is an option when conditions allow. Not too shabby for the 30-year-old Chinese star. ⬇️
👀 Player of the year?
Ben Griffin jokingly posted "There's no way I lose this..." after learning he was nominated for PGA Tour Player of the Year alongside Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Tommy Fleetwood during his wedding week. The 29-year-old who once quit pro golf for a mortgage loan desk job won his first three PGA Tour titles in 2025, though Scheffler's six wins including two majors make him a lock for his fourth consecutive Jack Nicklaus trophy. Griffin knows there's no shame in losing to Scottie—and at least he got invited to the party. ⬇️
🤔 Brad Dalke is taking over
Brad Dalke became YouTube golf's hottest commodity after winning the Creator Classic for $100,000 and the Internet Invitational for $333,333, with Wesley Bryan calling him "top 10 in the world talent" hitting "shots built for contending at majors." Francis Ellis called Dalke "a human beta blocker" who solves any problem, while Luke Kwon named him the best YouTube golfer ahead of Bryan himself. The former Oklahoma Sooner spent three days in hospital with his wife this week, reminding everyone you never know what someone's going through privately despite social media success. ⬇️
