⛳️ RIP Hooters

Happy Wednesday. The Augusta Hooters on Washington Road was demolished this week after closing in July, ending the Masters tradition where John Daly sold $780,000 worth of merch in 2024 including $40 hats and $250 cigar boxes. Only the rock wall remains from the institution that hosted massive tents for patrons to eat, drink, and watch golf during tournament week. Hooters filed for bankruptcy in March with $376 million in debt and sold over 150 restaurants. "Sad day for America," mourned fans online. Nothing gold can stay, indeed. ⬇️

📰 GOLF STORIES

⛳️ Francis Ellis on the Internet Invitational…

Francis Ellis said the Internet Invitational final created more pressure than Scottie Scheffler ever faces because "if he misses a putt, Bryson's going to be fine" but Ellis worried about costing teammate Beef Franke money to pay off his parents' mortgage. The comedian playing for $333,333 per player said hole 16 shifted from "I hope we win" to "I hope I don't lose this for us." Ellis claimed no stand-up comedy gig or room could match playing golf on camera for $1 million. His team won the title. ⬇️

👀 Mean Girls Golf Edition

Broadway stars from the "Mean Girls" national tour teed up at The Seawane Club for "Broadway To Birdie," singing every time they lost a hole with former "Wicked" Elphaba Mary Kate Morrissey leading the musical golf foursome. Nadina Hassan, Morgan Bryant, and Jonalyn Saxer joined golf-obsessed Morrissey with LPGA Coach Ellen Ceresko teaching basics, though Saxer nearly teed off the wrong way on hole one. "I don't have a spare brain cell for the show" when playing, Morrissey said. Get in losers, we're going golfing. ⬇️

🤔 Fighting for their careers

PGA Tour careers hang in the balance at the RSM Classic, the FedEx Fall finale where pros battle to finish inside the top 100 for full 2026 status and automatic entry to every regular event plus the Players Championship. Adam Schenk's Bermuda win (while putting one-handed) launched him from 134th to 61st, securing his card. Finishing 51-60 earns Signature Event spots at Pebble Beach and Genesis Invitational. Players 101-150 get conditional status and a Q-School Final Stage shot, where top-5 finishers earn full cards. The stars are home; the stakes couldn't be higher. ⬇️
