👀 Nicklaus Companies files for bankruptcy

Nicklaus Companies filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after losing a $50 million defamation lawsuit to Jack Nicklaus, who claimed the company spread false stories about him considering $750 million from LIV Golf and suffering dementia. The company listed assets of $10-50 million against liabilities between $500 million and $1 billion. Owner Howard Millstein and executive Andrew O'Brien weren't found personally liable, and the company plans to appeal. A separate lawsuit trying to prevent Nicklaus from using his own name for golf course design was dismissed earlier this year. ⬇️

Cedric Gugler received a 10-event HotelPlanner Tour suspension after playing his ball from the wrong place on greens multiple times in June, with playing partners Adri Arnaus and Aron Zemmer reporting the infractions. The Swiss golfer admitted in an initial hearing he "carelessly" said it was "possible" his ball wasn't replaced exactly right, though he claims he never intended to gain advantage. An independent panel ruled it a serious breach via reckless Rules of Golf infringement. Gugler will miss the first five months of 2026, calling it "a very difficult moment." ⬇️
