⛳️ The first ever TGL hole in one

Happy Wednesday. Chris Gotterup missed former Rutgers teammate Jack Panagos' wedding to win the WM Phoenix Open in a playoff, delivering "one special wedding gift" according to the groom who celebrated Sunday while fighting through his Saturday wedding hangover. Gotterup's third win in his last 10 PGA Tour starts earned $1.7 million, making the absence forgivable. Shoutout to the bride who let her husband lock into golf on their wedding weekend. No apologies needed, but maybe grab something from the registry with that winner's purse, Chris? These kids are gonna make it. ⬇️

📰 GOLF STORIES

⛳️ The first hole in one in TGL history

Neal Shipley made the first hole-in-one in TGL history on the 110-yard par-3 5th hole, launching his sand wedge 10 yards past the flag before spinning it back as teammates went wild. When asked if the simulator ace counts as "a career hole-in-one," The Bay teammates delivered a unanimous verdict: "100 percent," "No doubt," "I'm going to count it." It ticks all boxes—witnessed live, not a par-3 course, great celebration—except happening on a screen. The only question: did Ship buy the whole SoFi Center beer? ⬇️

👀 Backing off

Hideki Matsuyama backed off his playoff tee shot at the WM Phoenix Open after hearing a loud noise, then yanked his follow-up left into water before Chris Gotterup sank a 27-footer to win. Fan video revealed a Phoenix Open staffer dropped a chair right as Matsuyama reached the top of his swing. "Why are you even moving a chair while a golfer is in his address?" questioned fans, with some suggesting betting motives: "Someone who had money on Gotterup." Occam's Razor suggests accident, but Chair-gate conspiracy theories have only just begun. ⬇️

🤔 Boom, Roasted

Michael Kim got roasted for saying "I'd honestly be prouder of winning the Players over the PGA" after the PGA Tour dropped an ad ending with "MARCH IS GOING TO BE MAJOR." The Players pays $4.5 million versus the PGA's $3.42 million, and the March move created an elite winners list with Augusta-like conditions. Golf fans weren't buying it: "Nobody thinks you actually believe this," "You're trippin," "This take is bat shit insane. History remembers the green Wiki squares good sir." Kim does tons of good for the game, but… stop it, Mike. ⬇️
