Why is the Masters jacket green?

Happy Sunday. It’s now officially 2025 and golf season is only a few short months away. Josh Mayer, a golf youtuber, tested the top 50 “viral golf hacks” to improve your game. From “fly straight” golf balls to golf glove insurance (yes, it exists) to putting cabbage under your hat. As ESPN says, it’s only weird if it doesn’t work. ⬇️

If you’re new here, welcome to Bogey Bois Golf. Golf that doesn’t put you to sleep. No offense, Golf Digest. Starting next week, emails will be sent out Mon/Wed/Fri. Thanks for reading and let’s get started…

Last Starter: 95% of readers knew that the winner of the Masters gets a GREEN jacket. Considering this is a golf newsletter, that’s alarmingly low. The color green dates all the way back to the founding of Augusta National. In 1937, the club decided that all Augusta members should wear “brightly colored blazers” so patrons would know who to ask for assistance. The full story of the green jacket is filled with strange rules, interesting stories, and much more ⬇️

⛳️ TGL Madness

The TGL begins in 2 days. Will it revolutionize the sport or be an epic letdown? I’m the wrong guy to ask, but one thing you can’t deny is that it’s creating a lot of buzz.

This could be really cool. It could also be really lame. Either way, it’s kind of turning golf on it’s head. The TGL is being forced to answer questions that golfers like us have been struggling with for a while now. For instance, when you hit driver on the indoor simulator and it doesn’t go your usual “280, baby draw.” Turns out simulators glitch in the pros too, but they have a solution.

P.S. The TGL is paying some fans to attend the matches.
