⛳️ Rory Mcllroy said LIV golfers have paid their price

Happy Monday. Rory McIlroy said LIV Golf players have "paid their consequence in terms of reputation" and would welcome Bryson DeChambeau back to the PGA Tour "if it made the overall tour stronger," reversing his 2023 stance that defectors "irreparably harmed this tour" and "can't just welcome them back in." The five-time major spent 2025 sparring with DeChambeau through media after their Masters pairing. Brooks Koepka just left LIV with one year remaining, and DeChambeau's contract expires end of 2026. Smelling blood in the water or genuine change of heart? ⬇️

📰 GOLF STORIES

⛳️ This golf cart police chase is insane

A Christmas Eve police chase unfolded at Steel Canyon Golf Club in Sandy Springs, Georgia when a wanted suspect hopped aboard a golf cart and officers piled into the club's fleet to pursue in not-so-hot-pursuit across the course. The suspect eventually slowed down and surrendered peacefully with no one hurt in the yakety-sax absurdity. Police haven't named the suspect or charges, but bodycam footage shows this was more comedy than the high-speed San Francisco car chases in "The Rock." Here's hoping they scored a bucket of balls for their troubles. ⬇️

Lee Trevino stole the show at the PNC Championship after a Sunday 62 (including a holed wedge for eagle at 86 years old), explaining golf "straightened me out" after the cotton farm and Marine Corps: "I eat it, I sleep it, I walk it, I talk it. If you put a bed and tent on a driving range, I would sleep there." On promoting the game, the six-time major champ said "I'm going to meet the Lord pretty soon and don't want him disappointed because if he is, I'm probably going to have to caddie for Arnie." National treasure. ⬇️

🤔 Trump is reshaping the DC golf scene

The Trump administration revoked the National Links Trust's 50-year lease to D.C.'s three municipal courses, citing $8.8 million unpaid rent—which NLT vehemently denies, saying National Park Service approved rent offsets for capital improvements. NLT doubled rounds and revenue while maintaining sub-$50 peak rates and investing $8.5 million in improvements with pro bono designs from Gil Hanse and Tom Doak. Trump's courses average $300 per round versus D.C.'s current $50. The president is reshaping D.C.'s physical legacy—renaming the Kennedy Center, building a Triumphal Arch, demolishing the East Wing. ⬇️
