⛳️ Covid ruined golf

Presented by:

Happy Monday. Scottie Scheffler just became the first player since Tiger Woods to successfully defend the Memorial Tournament title, cruising to a four-stroke victory at Muirfield Village. The World No. 1's 16th PGA Tour win marks his third victory in four starts and continues his absolutely dominant 2025 season. Scheffler's bogey avoidance proved crucial—managing just one bogey in his final 40 holes while others regularly stumbled on the challenging course. Ben Griffin made things interesting with a late eagle and birdie to get within two shots, but Scheffler responded with a clutch birdie of his own to seal another commanding performance. ⬇️

Last Starter: 45% of readers knew that Sam Snead is the only golfer to have won a PGA Tour event in seven different decades. That’s truly unbelievable. Snead actually played Jack Nicklaus in a 1v1 match (Nicklaus was 23, Snead was 50). It’s crazy how different golf looked back in 1963. ⬇️

📰 GOLF STORIES

⛳️ Peyton Manning goes “foreeeeee”

Peyton Manning just proved that Hall of Fame quarterbacking skills don't translate to golf when he smoked a drive straight into someone's house during the Memorial Pro-Am. Playing alongside World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler—arguably the worst possible playing partner for a weekend hacker—Manning immediately started yelling "fore" before everyone heard the unmistakable sound of impact. Scheffler doubled over in laughter, saying "Good morning, sir" and "that's too much" after witnessing the property damage. One witness on Twitter claimed "Peyton Manning just about killed me," suggesting the former Broncos quarterback's errant shots were flying everywhere. Maybe stick to throwing footballs, not golf balls at houses. ⬇️

🕶️ The crazy reason Ben Griffin wears sunglasses on the course

Ben Griffin's signature aviator sunglasses aren't just a fashion statement—they're saving his vision. The PGA Tour winner revealed he wears the glasses because he sees "floaters" and has "really bad vision" after discovering eight retinal holes in both eyes that required emergency laser surgery. "I was at risk of losing vision, maybe within five or six months, had I not gotten the treatment," Griffin explained after his runner-up finish at the Memorial Tournament. The darker lenses help reduce the floating black spots he sees constantly, especially in bright conditions. Griffin also credits the Uswing Mojing glasses with improving his green-reading through better contrast detection. From mortgage loan officer to top-five in the FedEx Cup standings, Griffin's eyewear has become as essential as his clubs. ⬇️

❌ The 1 thing wrong with golf courses, according to Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson just called out golf's "huge problem" since Covid—players not raking bunkers or fixing ball marks at even "the nicest of clubs." The six-time major champion responded to golf statistician Lou Stagner's photo of a terrible bunker lie, saying it's "so disrespectful to everyone playing behind you." Lefty's clearly pointing fingers at the wave of pandemic golfers who picked up the game but apparently missed the etiquette lesson. His message serves as a perfect PSA: always rake your bunkers and repair your pitch marks, whether you're a Covid convert or seasoned veteran. Basic golf courtesy shouldn't be this hard to master, regardless of when you started playing. ⬇️
